About Me

My name is Matt Ciarletto, and I am a software engineer at Wayfair in Boston, MA. I graduated from the University of New Haven in May, 2015 with a B.S. in computer science and a minor in mathematics.

At UNH, I was a co-president of IEEE, the president of the Upsilon Pi Epsilon honor society and the founder of its programming team, and the vice president of Engineers Without Borders. I am also the proud winner of the 2014 UNH Society of Women Engineer's Mr. Engineer pageant.

I have experience in web development with an emphasis in PHP, JavaScript and SQL as well as native Andriod and iOS development.

Research and Work Experience

Indoor Navigation

Indoor Navigation App

I worked on a senior project at UNH that uses Bluetooth proximity beacons to determine location navigate indoors without GPS.

We started with a native Android app using Google Maps API. In the future, we plan to continue development and expand into iOS.

Timex R&D

Timex: R&D Internship

In the summer of 2014, I participated in a summer internship at Timex, researching new technology Timex could include in their smart watch lineup.

I developed a proof-of-concept iOS app and worked with an embedded software intern to establish communication with a watch over BLE.

Timex Senior Project

Timex: Senior Project

In the 2013-2014 academic year, I participated in a senior project sponsored by Timex.

We created a cross-platform web app to communicate with smart watches without requiring native apps to be developed.

The Feeling of Sound

The Feeling of Sound

In the summer of 2013, I participated in a research project that explored haptic feedback for audio in the form of a wristband with vibrating motors.

My research partner and I created a wristband capable of interfacing with recorded audio as well as real-time audio via Bluetooth and a C++/CLI desktop application.

Web Design

Web Design

Since 2008, I have been the webmaster for the Kitchen Corner. Originally created in simple HTML/CSS, it now uses the Bootstrap framework.

In addition, I created a website for my sister's art and art lessons, which can be found here.

CLR

Tutoring

From 2013 - 2015, I was a computer science tutor through UNH's Center for Learning Resources. I am a CRLA level II certified tutor.

I mostly tutored students in C and Java, and I also supported many other courses.
